"Jeffy's Cellphone" is the 47th episode of the 8th season of SML.

Plot

Mario and Rosalina get Jeffy a cellphone, but Jeffy isn't responsible for it.

Why It Has The Wrong Number

  1. The big issue with the video is that at the end of the day, it's simply a boring and unremarkable video with Jeffy annoying people. It isn't even that original of a concept, given "Bowser Junior's Cellphone" had done the same thing two years earlier to mixed results.
  2. A lot of the things Jeffy does can easily be seen as annoying/grating:
    • Breaking a flipphone with his mouth.
    • A lot of the prank calls, which are mostly just him annoying people.
  3. There is some unneded and cheap gross-out moments in the video, notably Jeffy sending a picture of his own feces to Mario.
  4. The ending is easily the worst part of the video and is the main reason for its hate. After Jeffy calls a prostitute to the house, Mario and Rosalina answer the door, and the prostitute comments that Mario "paid five dollars for her to touch his peepee", Rosalina flips out and starts to beat up Mario, and never bothers to ask any questions. It becomes even dumber when you realize Mario never left Rosalina during the episode and thus would not have had time to call a prostitute in the first place.
    • This was Rosalina's first sign of unlikeability in the series, and in fact the ending is commonly considered to be the start of her flanderization into a nagging, borderline-abusive housewife.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Some of the prank calls can be considered somewhat amusing, especially the "Oops, wrong number" scene, particularly the ending where Jeffy admits he "wanted to call Josh".
  2. Despite being infamous, you can argue the ending was justified karma for Mario due to his having locked Jeffy in the bathroom at the start of the episode.

Reception

While reception was initially somewhat mixed, with some people liking the episode and some people hating it, over time it has become much more negative, with the video now being panned for the ending and to a lesser extent, the prank call scene.
